Accessing cPanel
Logging in to cPanel
There are two ways to log in to a cPanel account:
- Access cPanel through the Todhost Hosting Customer Portal. This is the preferred method, because you can access cPanel without having to remember a special URL or domain name.
- Access cPanel directly.
Method #1: Access cPanel through the Todhost Hosting Customer Portal
To access cPanel through the Customer Portal, follow these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Portal.

- On the menu bar, click , and then click :

Under My Products & Services, locate your hosting package, and then click Active:

In the Actions sidebar, click :
In a separate window, the Customer Portal automatically logs you in to your cPanel account.

CPanel Login TutorialMethod #2: Access cPanel directly
To log in to cPanel directly, follow these steps:
- In your web browser, type the cPanel address for your web site. The address is either http://www.example.com:2082 or https://www.example.com:2083, where example.com is your domain name.
Alternatively, you can use one of the following addresses:
- http://cpanel.example.com or http://www.example.com/cpanel, where example.com represents your domain name.
- To access cPanel without using your domain name, you can use https://server.example.com:2083, where server represents the server name for your account.

In the Username text box, type your Todhost Hosting account username.
If you do not know your cPanel username and password, you can view them in the Todhost Hosting Customer Portal. - In the Password text box, type your Todhost Hosting account password.
- Click . When you enter the correct username and password, the cPanel home screen appears.
Logging out of cPanel
You should log out whenever you have finished using cPanel, because this notifies the web server that you have finished your session. If you do not log out, the server automatically closes your session after a set period of time. However, there is a small possibility that an attacker could exploit the open connection before this automatic logout occurs.
To log out of cPanel, follow these steps:
- Click the Logout icon.
This icon has a different location and appearance depending upon the active cPanel theme. In most cPanel themes, the Logout icon is located in the top-right corner.
cPanel Home Screen
This is the place to start for everything you do in cPanel. From the cPanel home screen, you can do the following:
- View status information for a variety of services on your account.
- Access cPanel features.
Viewing status information for your account
To view status information for your account, follow these steps:
- In the right column of the cPanel home screen, locate the heading. The General Information shows your username, primary domain name and other basic information.

To view additional information about your account, click Server Information in the General Information section. The Server Information page shows you information about your hosting account, IP address, software version numbers (including the cPanel version), and other features.

In the right column of the cPanel home screen, locate the Statistics heading. The Statistics column displays information about CPU and memory usage, bandwidth transfer, and more.
Accessing cPanel features
To access cPanel features, follow this step:
- There are two ways to access cPanel features:
- You can browse the various home screen sections and click the appropriate icon. For example, to change your password, locate the Preferences section, and then click Password & Security.
- Alternatively, you can start typing the feature name in the Find text box. For example, to change your password, type pass in the Find text box. Only a few icons appear and it simple to see the Password & Security icon. Click the icon to go to the Password & Security page.
Changing your cPanel password
To change your cPanel password, follow these steps:
- Log in to cPanel.
- In the Preferences section of the cPanel home screen, click Change Password.
- In the Old Password text box, type your current password.
- In the New Password text box, type the new password that you want.
- In the New Password (again) text box, retype the new password.
You can clickand cPanel generates a random, strong password for you.
- Select the Allow MySQL password change check box to change your MySQL password as well.
- Click The new password takes effect immediately.
Changing the cPanel language
To change the language cPanel uses, follow these steps:
- Log in to cPanel. For information about how to do this, please see this article.
- In the Preferences section of the cPanel home screen, click Change Language.
- In the list box, select the language you want cPanel to use.
- Click . The new language setting takes effect immediately.
Updating contact information and preferences in cPanel
This guides you the steps required to update your contact addresses and preferences in cPanel. To update your contact information and preferences in cPanel, follow these steps:
- Log in to cPanel. For information about how to do this, please see this article.
- In the Preferences section of the cPanel home screen, click Update Contact Info.
- If you want to update your e-mail address, type the new address in the text box.
You should use an e-mail address that is not associated with your hosting account. This ensures that you still receive e-mail messages if your site is inaccessible for some reason.
- You can also specify a secondary e-mail address. To do this, type the address in the second text box.
- Under Contact Preferences, select the check boxes for the notifications that you want to receive.
- Click .
Changing the cPanel theme
cPanel includes support for multiple themes. You can change the theme you use in cPanel. You can change the look and feel of the cPanel administration interface by changing its theme. Additionally, some features are only accessible when using a particular theme.
Currently, Todhost Hosting servers support the following cPanel themes:
- Paper Lantern: This is the successor to the x3 theme. It has a completely new look and feel, and is designed to be more streamlined and easier to use.
Switching the theme to Paper Lantern
If your account is currently using the x3 theme, you can switch it to the new Paper Lantern theme. To do this, follow these steps:
- Log in to cPanel.

- On the cPanel home screen, in the Switch Theme list box, select paper_lantern:
- cPanel switches to the Paper Lantern theme immediately.
Changing the style
The Paper Lantern theme has a completely new look and feel. If you are familiar with the older x3 theme, it can take awhile to adjust. However, Paper Lantern includes a Retro style that is similar in appearance to the x3 theme, and can help ease the transition to the new user interface.
To change the style, follow these steps:
- Log in to cPanel.

- Locate the preferred style, and then click . The new style takes effect immediately.
